Obituary for H P Ritch, III

Henry Persons “H.P.” Ritch, III, age 89, of Plains, died at his residence Friday, June 28, 2019. A native of Columbus, he was born January 22, 1930, the son of the late Henry Persons and Bessie Lee Ritch, Jr. Mr. Ritch was a member of First Baptist Church of Americus; an avid golfer; and a member of ROMEO’S (retired old men eating out), Kiwanis, Georgia Power Ambassadors and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He enjoyed bowling, watching his favorite TV show “Gunsmoke” and was a Georgia Bulldog fan.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, June 30, 2019, at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Parks officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday from 2:00 until 3:00 PM at the church. Pallbearers include Andy Black, Dan DeVane, Clayton Davis, Jamie Owler, Stephen Tanner and Tank Tanner. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Americus, 221 S. Lee St., Americus, GA 31709.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Darrah Ritch of Plains; a mother-in-law, Louise Martin of Plains; two daughters and son-in-law, Brenda Burditt of Columbus and Mikki and Jamie Owler of Plains; three sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Becky Ritch of Americus, Donald “Tank” and Stephanie Tanner of Plains and Stephen and Catherine Tanner of Plains; nine grandchildren, Kristin Black (Andy), Gena Davis (Clayton) Kerri DeVane (Dan), Ashton Moles (Meagan), Taylor Owler, Harold Tanner, Tanner Owler, Clayton Tanner and Shelby Tanner; six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 51 years, Jean Ritch and a brother, Wayne Ritch.
