Obituary for George Powell Mason

Mr. George P. Mason, age 62, of Quinlan, Texas (formerly of Americus) died Monday, March 2, 2009. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, March 4 in the chapel of Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel with a private burial to follow at a later date.
A native of Cobb County, Mr. Mason was born September 12, 1946, a son of the late Herbert C. Mason, Sr. and Bernice Henderson Mason. He was a 1964 graduate of Americus High School, attended Georgia Southwestern College, was an avid sportsman and former manager of Triangle Home Products. He was of the Baptist faith.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm, Tuesday, March 3 at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel, 142 Southland Road and at other times at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Russell Thomas, Jr., 805 South Lee Street. The family suggest that memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association, P. O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA. 22312 or to a favorite charity of ones choice.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Kasey Mason Norton and Trey of Americus; one step-daughter, Rikki Rogers McDaniel of Collins; one step-son, Rev. David Rogers of Valdosta; one sister and brother-in-law Deborah Shepard and Michael; two brothers and one-sister-in-law, Herbert Mason, Jr. and Joan of Americus and Samuel D. Mason of Leesburg. One granddaughter, Emily Norton; two nieces, Joey Snyder and husband Peter and Meghann Hart and husband Chad; one nephew Dane Shepard and wife Shannon, several great nieces and nephews also survive.
