Obituary for Ella Christine Ledger McGlamry

Ella Christine Ledger McGlamry, age 90, or 114 Sullivan Dr., Americus, died Sunday, September 4, 2011 at Perfect Care. A native of Andersonville, Mrs. McGlamry was born March 6, 1921, the daughter of the late Dan Ledger and Pauline Ledger McNeely. Mrs. McGlamry served in various capacities in the school lunchroom programs for 32 years. She was employed in 1958 at the old Anthony Elementary School, moving in 1964 to Cherokee Elementary School as lunchroom manager serving there until 1977. At that time she was appointed Nutrition Director for the Americus City School System retiring in 1990. Mrs. McGlamry was a member of First Baptist Church and an avid Pilot Club member where she was a past president, secretary and treasurer. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2011, at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel with Rev. Keith Parks and Rev. Rusty Mauldin officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 6, 2011, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel and at other times the family residence, 119 Briarwood Circle. Memorial contributions may be made to Perfect Care, 114 Sullivan Dr., Americus, Ga. 31709. Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Patricia Ann Green of Oglethorpe and Ruth and Charles Craig of Americus; two sisters, Barbara Cox of Dry Branch and Polly Kendrick of Sequin, Tx.; three brothers, Paul Ledger of Bartow, John Dan Ledger of Samsula Fl. and Ralph Ledger of Glendale, Md.; five grandchildren, David and Kathy Green of Forsyth, Thad and Melissa Green of Warner Robins, Stephanie Scott of Leesburg, Tiffany Bush of Leesburg and Christy and Kevin Fracassa of Athens; and fifteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband J.R. McGlamry, two sisters, Mary Julia Fincher and Martha Sparks and one brother, Aubrey Ledger
