Obituary for Elizabeth 'Betty' Adams Horn

Elizabeth Hanna Adams “Betty” Horn passed away peacefully Saturday, April 5, 2014. She was born on April 24, 1923, in Macon, Georgia. She was raised by her grandmother, Eugenia Glover Massee and moved to Americus as a child. She attended Americus High School and graduated from Georgia Southwestern College. After college she worked at Red’s Pharmacy and she met the love of her life, Fred Horn, at a USO dance on New Year’s Eve in 1946 and married him 6 weeks later on Valentine’s Day! Fred preceded her in death in June of 2000. Betty is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Horn Dolson and her deceased husband James Frederick Dolson, Jr., Phyllis Horn Daniel and her husband Reginald Scott Daniel, and Eugenia Horn Powell and her husband Richard Franklin Powell, Jr., her grandchildren, Angela Daniel Trollinger and her husband Stanton Howard Trollinger, Ashley Daniel Ray and her husband Roger Randall Ray, Jr., Eugenia Phyllis Dolson, Hanna Louise Kroll, Walker Simpson Powell and Cooper Joseph Powell. Betty was also blessed with six great grandsons. She loved her family, bridge, high heels and jewelry! She was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at 11:00 AM at Oak Grove Cemetery with Father Rick Buechner officiating. The family will receive friends following the service and at other times the residence of Genie and Rick Powell. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Calvary Episcopal Church, 408 S. Lee St., Americus, GA 31709.
