Obituary for Donna Jones Yates Drake

Donna Jones Yates Drake, age 60, of 121 Tallent Store Rd., Americus, died at her residence Sunday, September 8, 2013. A native of Sumter, SC., she was born April 7, 1953 the daughter of the late Harold Jones and survived by her mother, Mildred McCutcheon Jones. Mrs. Drake was employed with the National Institute of Real Estate Management Governing Council. She was one of seventy five people that governed people for unethical practices in real estate management. Mrs. Drake also served on their editorial staff for six years for the Journal of Property Management Magazine. She won many awards as well as scholarships with them. Mrs. Drake served eight years as South Georgia IREM Chairman of the South Georgia Chapter and served on state boards also. She chaired the Christmas in April project in Macon for six years and was a member of the Christian Women’s Club. Mrs. Drake was also a beautician, teacher and X-Ray Technician. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 12, 2013, at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel with Rev. Steve Golden and Rev. Randy Barron officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 11, 2013, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel and at other times the family residence of Mildred Jones, 720 Felder St., Americus. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Ann Harris, 1801 Rose Avenue, Americus, Ga. 31709. Survivors include her husband, Charles Drake of Americus; her mother, Mildred Jones of Americus; four daughters and son-in-law, April Rowell of Plains, Tara and Ricky Harris of Plains, Tabetha Williams of Ellaville and Angie Adams of Americus; a son, Shaun Yates of Venice, CA; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Sherryl and Bruce Wilder of Albany, Valerie and Mike Bean of Peachtree City, Cereto Bean of Washington DC and Freda Moore of Eden, MD; a brother, Duane Jones of Columbia, SC; six grandchildren, Leah Yates, Hunter Yates, Anna Yates, Austin Brown, Login Brown and Kayley Harris and many more friends and children that she took in and called her own.
