Obituary for Billy Edward Driver, Sr

Billy Edward Driver, Sr., age 77, of 775 Middle River Rd., died at his residence Saturday, February 8, 2014. A native of Blakely, he was born April 30, 1936 the son of the late Thomas Frank and Alice Nobles Driver. Mr. Driver worked for Amoco Oil Co. for 22 years and then started Driver’s Farm Services for several years. He then started Driver’s Propane Co. Mr. Driver was a veteran of the US Army and a member of Salem United Methodist Church. He enjoyed camping, fishing, visiting the mountains and spending time with his family. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel with Rev. Lawrence Wiggins officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday, February 10, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Salem United Methodist Church, 903 Upper River Rd., Americus, Ga. 31709. Pallbearers include Joey Driver, Andy Driver, Cory Lowell, Bryce Driver, Josh Driver and Robert Peak. Honorary pallbearers include David White, Leon White, Tony Norman, Chad Driver and James Driver. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Betty Jo Driver of Americus; a daughter, Dana Driver Lowell of Americus; three sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and Fran Driver, Jr. of Americus, Mike and Kim Driver of Americus and Steve Driver and fiancé Leslie Cook of Americus; two sisters, Tommie Jean Ingram of Dawson and Peggy Holley of Quitman; two brothers, Herman Driver of Americus and James “Bubba” Driver of Americus; ten grandchildren, Joey and Jennifer Driver, Andy Driver and fiancé Lani, Josh and Summer Driver, Cory Lowell and fiancé Jessica, Jessi Driver, Macy Driver, Courtney Lowell, Bryce Driver, Emilee Driver and Marley Driver; three great grandchildren Ramsey Driver, Blakely Driver, and Olivia Vancleave; and two future great grandchildren, McKinlee Lowell and Eli Driver. He was preceded in death by a sister, Agnes Daniels.
