Sandra Treadaway Smith, 79, passed away December 28, 2023, peacefully in her home and surrounded by family. She was born June 19, 1944 to the late Isaac Osbern Treadaway and Margaret Frances Treadaway in Atlanta, GA. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Salem Church in Americus, GA with reverend Mark Carter officiating. The Visitation will start at 1pm, with the service following at 2pm. The graveside will conclude this celebration of life at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Sandra was happily married to the love of her life, Daniel Wilkerson Smith for 57 years. She enjoyed many hobbies and family gatherings including: church, singing, working in her yard and garden, farm life, family history, spending time at the river and watching movies while eating popcorn with her grandchildren. Sandra had a heart for the Lord and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her family dearly, along with so many friends and acquaintances in her community, which included: the town of Americus, The Southern Bell Telephone Company, Salem Church, The Andersonville Trail Association and her Americus High school graduating class of 1962. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
Her legacy lives on through her family. She is survived by her husband Daniel Wilkerson Smith, her son Troy Smith (Tasha), her two daughters, Traci Madden (Milton Foster) and Dannah Stephens (James Stephens, III). Also surviving, one brother, Michael Treadaway (Jean), two sisters-in-law, Margie Smith Strange and Harriet Hargrove Smith. Other survivors include her grandchildren, Lani Smith Kelly (Austin), Daniel Madden, and Estelle and James Stephens. She also had several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents Isaac and Margaret Treadaway, her son-in-law, Darrin Madden and her brothers-in-law, Hoke “Buzzy” Smith and Bobby Strange. Also, two nieces, Clair Strange Jones and Tammi Treadaway Bowden, and her beloved in-laws, Hoke and Estelle Smith.
