Raymond Samuel Coleman , Sr

Raymond Samuel Coleman, Sr., 95, passed away on August 20,2023 in Americus, GA. He was born on February 29, 1928 to the late Rufus Coleman and Thelma Coleman in Waycross, GA. Mr. Coleman served in the Navy in World War II, and he crossed the Arctic Circle becoming a member of the Royal Order of The Blue Nose. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, VFW and was a member of First Baptist Church. He was married to the love of his life Laverne “Cookie” Coleman for 73 years, and was a buyer for Sears Catalog for 41years. Mr. Coleman loved God, his family, and his country.

A memorial Service will be held at First Baptist Church on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at 2:00PM. A private burial will be held at Andersonville National Cemetery

Survivors include his wife of 73 years Laverne “Cookie” Coleman of Americus; his son Dr. Raymond Coleman, Jr. (Glennis) of Douglas; his grandson John Christopher Coleman of Stone Mountain

He was preceded in death by his parents Rufus Coleman and Thelma Coleman; his brothers Willard Coleman, Rufus Coleman, Ralph Coleman and Ronald Coleman
