Harry Albert Larsen was born in Americus, Sumter County Georgia on February 3, 1940, and passed away at the Willson Hospice House in Albany, Georgia on May 28, 2023, at the age of 83.
He was the son of the late Elmer and Nona Ruth Deriso Larsen. He is survived by his wife, Helen Sue Brown Larsen; son George (Lynn) and granddaughter Ada Ruth. One sister, Gail Larsen (Winton Harris) of Tucker, also survives.
Harry was a graduate of Union High School in Leslie. After high school, he continued his education at ABAC. While at ABAC, he met “Charlie Brown”, who would become his wife. After ABAC, he attended and graduated from the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in animal science. While at UGA, he became brother #427 of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity.
After completing his time at UGA, he moved back to the family farm in DeSoto where he and Sue began their life together running and operating Lone Oak Plantation. He lived his entire life on the same side of the road on the farm.
Harry also served his country as a member of the Georgia National Guard.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 1, at the Leslie City Cemetery. Dr. Bryan Myers will officiate. Music will be provided by Clark Bass. Pallbearers will be: Leodus “Skebo” Wright, Richman Greene, Dendy Cromer, Dennis Roland, Phil Roland, and Benji Johnson. The Honorary Pallbearer will be Mr. Bobby Clay, lifetime neighbor and friend.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Greg Hancock Funeral Home. At other times, the family may be reached at the home of George and Lynn Larsen.
