Willis Franklin Frank Usry, age 90, of 135 Sherwood Rd., Americus, died at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, Tuesday, March 22, 2011. A native of Ellaville, he was born November 2, 1920, the son of the late Joshua Franklin and Willie Alma Willis Usry. Mr. Usry was of the Wesleyan faith and attended Grace Community Church and he was also served in the Navy during WW II. He taught Sunday School for forty years and was the Treasurer of the church for many years. Mr. Usry taught diesel mechanics at South Georgia Technical College; joined foreign services and traveled to many countries teaching equipment maintenance. After he retired, he also worked at Fresh Farm Produce for seventeen years as maintenance supervisor. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 25, 2011, at 11:00 AM, at Grace Community Church with Rev. Steve Hill and Rev. Wayne Swanson officiating. Burial will follow at Ellaville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 24, 2011, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel and at other times the family residence, 135 Sherwood Rd. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Grace Community Church, 193 Southland Rd., Americus, Ga. 31709 or to Gideons International Americus Camp, P. O. Box 722, Americus, Ga. 31709. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Gladys Usry of Americus; one daughter, Karla Ann Usry of Americus; a son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Debra Usry of Richmond, VA.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Britt and Cindy Usry of Alabama, Douglas and Geraldine Usry of Ellaville and Jimmy and Judy Usry of Hampton, VA.; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara Tatum of Macon, Joann and Sonny Coker of Gray, and Elizabeth and Rainey Reed of Moultrie; one grandchild, Kristen Usry of Richmond, VA. He is preceded in death by three brothers, Willie E.B. Usry, Rodolph Usry and Millard Usry.
