William Thomas Smith, age 66, of 818 Old Andersonville Road, died at his residence Thursday, May 9, 2013. A native of Americus, He was born January 25, 1947, the son of the late Marvin Smith Sr. and Sara Thelma Bishop Satterfield who survives him. Mr. Smith attended Calvary Baptist Church. He loved his children, and was a devoted father. Mr. Smith was compassionate and giving and also supportive of others. He was a hard worker. A graveside memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Oak Grove Cemetery with Rev. William Hall officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of Marvin Smith, 885 Old Andersonville Rd., Andersonville. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Sumter Humane Society, 108 Industrial Blvd., Americus, Ga. 31719. Survivors include his mother, Thelma Satterfield of Americus; four daughters, Shan Apperson of Leesburg, Michelle Vaughn of Rome, Jessica Rogers of Americus and Sara Smith of Americus; a son, Michael Buck of Americus; two sisters, Betty Barry of Americus and Barbara Varnum of Americus; a brother, Marvin Smith, Jr. of Andersonville and eight grandchildren.
