Mr. William Ray Parker, age 83, of 1214 Ridge St., Americus, died Monday, March 7, 2011, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. A native of Andersonville, Mr. Parker was born October, 6, 1927, the son of Preston and Zelma Ruth Reeves. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and was a hardworking, honest man that loved fishing. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Graveside services will be held Thursday, March 10, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Oak Grove Cemetery with Rev. William Hall officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 9, 2011, from 6 until 8 PM at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel and at other times the family residence, 1214 Ridge St., Americus. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, c/o Ann Harris, 1801 Rose Avenue, Americus, Ga. 31709. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Charlie and Gail Parker of Ellaville; a daughter, Billie Jo Ann Powell of Americus; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Margaret Reeves of Leslie and Rex and Dorothy Reeves of Americus; six grandchildren, Phil Watson, Dana Bailey, Dennis Parker, Tammy Pingrey, Jessie Rees and Tim Parker; eleven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Maude Parker and a daughter, Linda Anderson. Memorials: American Cancer Society, c/o Ann Harris, 1801 Rose Avenue, Americus, Ga. 31709.
