William D. "Bill" Burks, age 60, died Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Columbus Hospice. Born October 8, 1958 in Terrell County, he was the son of Thomas Burks and Donice Massey Burks. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his friends. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Turkey Creek Cemetery in Weston with Rev. Robert Orr officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel in Americus. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Stetson and Hayleigh Burks of Richland; grandson, William Rhett Burks; two sisters: Wree Burks of Weston and Donna Maxwell of Dallas; and three brothers and two sisters-in-law: Reggie and Janet Burks of Centerpoint, Wayne and Patricia Burks of Weston, and Tommy Burks of Albany. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Stewart-Webster Cancer Fund, 6381 Hamilton St., Preston, GA 31824. Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
