Walter Patrick Crumpton, age 85, of 1722 Highway 27 E., Leslie, died August 16, 2012 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. A native of Clanton, AL., he was born August 6, 1927, the son of the late Alvin Briggs Crumpton and Willie Popwell Crumpton Brown. Mr. Crumpton was a retired farmer, avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church and the Moose and Elks Lodge. A graveside memorial service will be held Sunday August 19, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Mother Kedron Nicholson officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence of Tami and Ricky Duke, 119 Pearl Dr., Americus. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Calvary Episcopal Church, 408 S. Lee St., Americus, GA. 31709 or to the Georgia Sheriff's Youth Home, P O Box 1000, Stockbridge, GA 30281. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Lana and Earl Bass of Apollo Beach, Fl. and Tami and Ricky Duke of Americus; a sister, James Katherine Stone of Americus; four grandchildren, Patrick Earl and Lori Bass, Christy and Jim Dismukes, Walter and Michelle Duke and Sara Duke; five great grandchildren, Patrick Bass, Jim Dismukes, Talley Bass, Lana Dismukes and Banks Bass; and several nieces and nephews.
