Wallace Roy Walden, age 81, of Americus, died at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center Tuesday, June 25, 2019. A native of Bowden, he was born October 9, 1937 the son of the late Roy Wilson and Gertia Lee Kilgore Walden. Mr. Walden was a mechanic by trade and was in the Air Force Reserve. He attended Shiloh Baptist Church; was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed camping. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 27, 2019, at 12:00 in the chapel of Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel with Rev. Brian Bentley officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 26, 2019, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel and also one hour prior to the service on Thursday. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Shiloh Baptist Church Mission Fund, 961 Shiloh Rd., Americus, GA 31719. Pallbearers include Michael Smallwood, Josh Smallwood, Jimmy Storm, Adam Whited, Brandon Grubbs and John Grubbs. Honorary pallbearers include Jeremy Law, Allen Shutter and Jason Law. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Joann Walden of Americus; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Greg Law and Donna Gayle and Brandon Grubbs; a brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Joyce Walden; eight grandchildren, Jason and Elizabeth Law, Jeremy and Wendy Law, Jennifer and Jeffrey Cromer, Jacqueline and Adam Whited, Amanda and James Storm, John Grubbs, Desiree Walden and Jessica and Allen Harmon; fifteen great grandchildren, Kayla Smith, Greyson Law, Damion and Gracie Rodriquez, Hayleigh Cromer, Olivia Whited, Caden, Maddox and Dalton Storm, Michael, Josh and De ja Smallwood and Brody, Colton and Garrett Harmon; and a great -great grandchildren, Kamdyn Kurt Russell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James Gregory Walden; a sister, Hazel Atkinson and a brother, Raymond Walden.
