Virginia Lloyd-Dalton, Leslie, GA, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 22, 2011 after a year long battle from the final stages of Alzheimer's disease. She is survived by her husband, Fred Dalton, three sons and daughter-in-laws: Jerry and Kim Lloyd of Marietta, Terry and Melody Lloyd of Snellville and Perry and Carol Lloyd of Conyers. Gin Gin, as she was lovingly called by her extended family, is also survived by grand children Jay Lloyd and John Lloyd, Jenna and Charlie Reid, Nic Lloyd, Misty and Jeff Lalaian, Josh Lloyd and David Lloyd. Gin Gin was also the great grandmother of Abbie and Ellie Lalaian. Born in Miami, FL on August 28, 1934, Virginia soon moved with her father and mother, Frank and Nadine Lee to Sumter County where she resided the majority of her life. Virginia was a member of the Leslie United Methodist Church; Daughter's of the American Revolution, the Leslie Garden Club and was an avid bridge player. After having raised her three sons, Virginia attended Georgia Southwestern College and graduated from the college's Nursing School. Upon graduation, she worked as a surgical nurse at the Americus and Sumter County Hospital for over twenty years. Virginia was also the office and surgical nurse for Dr. T. J. Rundle, a former Americus Ophthalmologist. Virginia was married to the former Americus High School and Southland Academy coach and Mayor of Leslie Wallace Lloyd who died in 2001. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October, 27, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Leslie United Methodist Church with internment to follow in Leslie City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 26, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Leslie United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 116, Leslie, Ga. 31764. Cemetery: Leslie City Cemetery
