Mrs. Verlin Christine Crook Potter, age 92, of 2001 S. Lee St., Americus, died Wednesday afternoon at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center. A native of Taylor County, she was born May 25, 1917, the daughter of James Thomas and Katie Lou Aldridge Crook. She was a homemaker, a member of the Leslie Hobby Club and Calvary Baptist Church where she was a member of the WMU. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Wesley Potter in March of 2008 and her son, William C. Bill Potter in March of 2009. Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 1, 2009, at 3:00 PM, at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. William Hall and Rev. Shelve Summerlin officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Saturday, October 31, 2009, at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel and at other times at the home of Lamar Potter, 142 W. Federal St. in Leslie. Mrs. Potter is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Jane Potter of Summerfield, FL and Lamar and Irene Potter of Leslie; a brother, Wilburn Crook of Alabama; ten grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
