Obituary

Mr. Thomas Kevin Lloyd, Sr., age 57, of 1911 Radiance Avenue, died Friday, October 24, 2008. A native of Amityville, New York, born April 21, 1951, son of the late Thomas Mackin Lloyd and Jean Dorothy Lipiac Lloyd, Mr. Lloyd was a graduate of Georgia Southwestern University and South Georgia Technical College. He served in the United States Marine Corps for four years and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal (1st Awd) and the Rifle-Expert Badge. Mr. Lloyd was employed with Eastern Airlines from 1979 to 1983 and with South Georgia Technical College from 1983 to present as an Aviation Structural Mechanic teacher. Mr. Lloyd held a private pilot license and was a Commissioner of the Airport Authority for seven years.\r\n Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, October 27, 2008 in the chapel of Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel with Rev. Earl Dunmon officiating. Interment will follow at Andersonville National Cemetery. Asked to serve as pallbearers are Frankie Williams, Charles Cagle, Tony Chase, Mike Cochran, Bobby Wooldridge and Mike Reeves. Asked to serve as honorary pallbearers are Burt Raines, Chris Usrey, Paul Joiner, James Manning and Ben Roddey. \r\n A visitation will be held from 3 to 5 pm, Sunday, October 26 at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Americus-Sumter County Airport Authority, 223 Airport Road, Americus, Ga. 31709.\r\n Survivors include one daughter, Lauren Taylor Lloyd; two sons, Thomas Kevin Lloyd, Jr. and Michael Scott Lloyd and wife Kerri, and the mother of his children, Judy Lloyd, all of Americus. Also surviving are his companion Amanda Pryor and children, Robert Pryor and Aaron Pryor of Americus; two sisters, Cynthia Lloyd of Atlanta and Patricia Olsen of Savannah; a nephew and his wife, Richard and Pamela Olsen of Savannah and two great-nephews. Memorials: The Americus-Sumter County Airport Authority, 223 Airport Road, Americus, Ga. 31709. Cemetery: Andersonville National Cemetery Visitation: A visitation will be held from 3 to 5 pm, Sunday, October 26 at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel.
