Thomas A. Lindsey, age 72, of Americus, died at his residence Saturday, July 15, 2017. A native of Macon, he was born February 9, 1945, the son of the late Thomas and Hattie Martha Lindsey. Mr. Lindsey received a football scholarship at the University of Tennessee, Martin Branch before going to the United States Air Force. He and wife Sandra served two years in Okinawa and two years in Louisiana with the Air Force. They moved to Americus to complete his education at Georgia Southwestern College with a degree in Political Science and a minor in History. Mr. Lindsey later went on to earn a Master's degree in Law Enforcement from Troy State University. After receiving his degree, he joined the Georgia State Patrol in Americus and served for ten years, before transferring to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. He retired in April of 2000 as Assistant Agent in Charge in Americus. Mr. Lindsey was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Graveside services will be held Monday, July 17, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 16, 2017, from 3:00 until 5:00 PM at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel. Honorary pallbearers include Georgia State Patrol and Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Sandra Lindsey of Americus; a daughter, Christy Stradley of Woodstock; a sister, Angela Ivestor of Macon; two brothers, Donnie Lindsey of Macon and Turner Trible of Cape Canaveral, FL; and three grandchildren, Landon Stradley, Logan Stradley and Luke Stradley. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Lindsey.
