IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sue Pace
James
January 17, 1947 – October 26, 2024
Sue Pace James, age 77, peacefully passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024, with her daughters by her side. Born on January 17, 1947, in Leslie, she was the daughter of the late Gilford and Marilyn Pace, Sr.
Sue was preceded in death by her devoted and loving husband, Coy Clifford James, Jr.
Sue is survived by her two daughters and their spouses: Kim and Jerry Conley of Leesburg, and Kay and Jeff Martin of Ball Ground. She was also a proud grandmother to her four grandchildren: Landon and Logan Conley, and Coy and Samantha Martin and sister to Gilford Pace, Jr., Patricia and Larry Smith, Tift and Penny Pace, Mary and John Craft, Lovey and Freddie Bass.
Sue was grounded in her faith, and she was ready to be called 'HOME'. She was a loving housewife and mother, and grandmother. Affectionately known as "Rah Rah" to her grandchildren. She was also known to family as Sister Sue, Aunt Sue, Sweet Sue, to us, she was and is Mama.
Sewing and baking were two of her special gifts. Mama made the best old-fashioned caramel, chocolate, strawberry, coconut, or pineapple cakes around.
Mama loved to shop and find a good deal. If it was on sale, you had to get it, because "you never knew if you would find that item again." She wouldn't hesitate to drive from one side of town to the other when she was on a mission to find something. Whether it was a gift or donated items for school party bags.
She loved to sew and made several keepsakes for her grandchildren when they were younger. She sewed countless baby blankets for her grandchildren, family, friends and donating many to babies at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Her most prized gifting of over 100 blankets to the Shriners hospital where she was recognized for her generosity.
The grandkids remember special trips to the park with both Granpa and RahRah. She had a sweet tooth like no other and was always ready with a treat for her and them.
In addition to her role at home, Mama held various positions outside the home, having worked at the Leslie Peanut Company, Ace Hardware Store, and First Union Bank in Marietta, GA.
Mama's love and laughter will be missed by all who knew her. She was a Southern Belle, and her legacy will live on in those who loved her.
Honoring Mama's wishes, we will not be holding a visitation or funeral. Instead, we ask everyone to remember her through acts of kindness and to share a special memory with us.
In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in her memory to Leslie Community Church, PO Box 116, Leslie, GA 31764 or Shriners Childrens Hospital, Corporate Headquarters, 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr.,Tampa, FL 33607
