Sanders Charlie Thompson, Jr., age 87, of 809 Douglas Dr., died at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center Wednesday, November 23. A native of Vienna, he was born September 2, 1924, the son of the late Sanders Charlie and Melvina Cox Thompson, Sr. Mr. Thompson served in the Army during World War II, was a member of First Baptist Church and was retired from the City School System where he was employed in the maintenance department. A private memorial service will be held. The family will receive friends at the family residence, 809 Douglas Dr., Friday, November 25 in the afternoon. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice. Survivors include his wife, Mary Thompson of Americus; a daughter, Brenda DeVane of Columbus; two sons, S.C. Thompson, III of Americus and Larry R. Thompson of Americus; two brothers, Ovid Durward Thompson of Tenn. and Russell R. Thompson of Fl.; three grandchildren and six great grand children.
