Samuel David Mason, age 75, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2023 under Hospice at Perfect Care in Americus, Georgia.

Sam was born January 16, 1948 in Marietta, Georgia to the late Herbert C. Mason, Sr. and Bernice Henderson Mason. He was a 1966 graduate of Americus High School, served in the United States Army, and graduated from Georgia Southwestern College in Americus, Georgia. Sam was a loyal and hard-working employee. After retiring from Eckerd Drugs as Manager of several stores in Albany, GA, he finished his working career with the City of Albany. His loyalty, dedication, kindness, and gentle spirit was evident to all who knew him. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and his many nieces and nephews who affectionately afforded him the title "Uncle Sam" the last fifty years of his life.

He is survived by his brother Herbert C. (Joan) Mason, Jr. of Americus; his sister, Deborah( Michael) Shepard of Americus; his nephew, Dane (Shannon) Shepard of Smithville; and nieces, Joey (Pete) Snyder of Ocilla; Meghann (Chad) Hart of Leesburg. In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his brother, George Mason and his niece, Kasey Mason Norton.

The family would like to express our thanks for the help and care given by the wonderful staff at Perfect Care and Pruitt Hospice. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
