Mrs. Ruth Claire Law, age 90, of 117 Robin Hill Road, died Monday, November 17, 2008 at her residence. A native of Hampton, S.C., Mrs. Law was born March 2, 1918, daughter of the late William Overton and Mable Claire Williamson. Mrs. Law was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas B. Law, Sr., a sister, Gladys Burch and a brother William Williamson.\r\n Mrs. Law was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of Oglethorpe Methodist Church but attended Greater Vision Baptist Church.\r\n Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, November 20, 2008 at Greater Vision Baptist Church with Pastor Stacy Penland officiating. Burial will follow in Oglethorpe Cemetery.\r\n A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm, Wednesday, November 19 at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel, 142 Southland Road.\r\n Memorial contributions may be made to Greater Vision Baptist Church, 135 New Era Road, Americus, Ga. 31709.\r\n Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Wayne Barfield of Americus; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas B. Law, Jr. and Beverly of Phenix City, Alabama; granddaughter, Hollie Layfield and husband Duane of Americus; granddaughter, Autumn Holt; grandson, Thomas Law, III and wife, Amanda and two great-grandchildren, Ashtyn Holt and Ethon Holt all of Phenix City, Alabama. Step-grandchildren, Darin and LeAnn Barfield of Americus, Sherri and Kenny Rogers of Tifton, Jeff and Teresa Barfield and seven step-great-grandchildren. Sisters-in law, Marceline Nelson of Americus, Lois Athon of Perry, Elizabeth Whitt and husband Ray of Woodstock and Marilyn Williamson of Cordele also survive.
