Ruben Davis Buchanan, age 68, of 191 Buchanan Dr. Plains, died at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, Monday, June 29, 2015. A native of Plains, he was born February 20, 1947, the son of the late Robert Lee and Sarah Lucille Countryman Buchanan Sr. Mr. Buchanan was a member of Concord United Methodist Church. He retired from the University of Georgia Southwest Experiment Station in Plains and he also enjoyed fishing and gardening. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 3, 2015, at 11:00AM at Concord United Methodist Church with Rev. Sammy Curry officiating. Burial will follow at Concord Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 2, 2015, from 6:00 until 8:00PM at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel and at other times the family residence. Survivors include his wife, Latann Cravey Buchanan of Plains; two daughters and sons in law, Casey and Andy Papp of New Albany IN., and Valerie Coleman and Kyle Heath of Americus; a son and daughter- in -law, Ruben (Davy) Davis Buchanan, Jr. and Amy Byrd of Plains; four sisters and brothers- in- law, Ann and Lewis Grovestein of Sylvania, Patricia Phipps of Plains, Edna Turner of Plains, and Sarah and Fred Fowler of Ideal; a brother and sister- in- law, Bobby and Bertha Buchanan of Plains; twelve grandchildren and spouses, Megan and Nathaniel Papp, Jasmine Papp, Hannah Coleman, Abby Coleman, Khloe Heath, Kylie Heath, Charlotte Heath, Junior and Kari Dumas, Joey and Tabby Dumas; three step grandchildren, Zachary Arnett, Heather Arnett, Tyler Arnett; two great grandchildren, Ginnirae Dumas, Ehzmae Wilkinson.
