Roland was a man known for his kindness, his wit, and his unfailing commitment to his family. Even during times of his failing health, he still maintained his positive attitude and his humor. Consistently, the medical professionals who treated him talked about how much they loved "Mr. Roland".  Roland always had a joke or a funny story to tell about some of his many adventures.  He never met a stranger and would strike up a conversation with anyone who would talk to him.  He enjoyed spending time in north Georgia with his wife Gladys, at their "little piece of paradise".  He loved his family unconditionally and enjoyed doing things for them.  He was the epitome of selflessness – always concerned for others even when his own body was worn out. The impact he made on all those around him will never be forgotten.

A private memorial service will be held on a later date.

If so desired, memorial contributions can be made to a charity of one's choice.
