Mr. Roger Rod Grimes, Jr. age 50, of Ellaville died Saturday, May 9, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm, Tuesday, May 12, 2009 in the chapel of Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel, 142 Southland Road with Rev. Hugh Harbort officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Daniel Grimes, Shannon White, Rusty Grimes, John Tidd, Billy Veare and Duane Berry. Honorary pallbearer will be Brandon Thompson. Burial will follow in Ellaville City Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time. A native of Miller County, Mr. Grimes was born September 21, 1958, a son of the late Roger Daniel Grimes, Sr. and Lucy Wylinda Smith Jones whom survives him. Mr. Grimes was a graduate with honors from Miller County High School. He was loved by everyone. Survivors other than his mother include one daughter, Shannon Egermayer of Gulf Shores, Ala.; one son Daniel Grimes of Ft. Bragg, N.C., two sisters, Jennifer Owens of Ellaville, Rolynda White of Perry; one brother, Ken Grimes of Perry; four grandchildren, Cheyenne Gordon, Seth Egermayer, Sarah Egermeyer and Vann Grimes and his maternal grandmother, Alberta Smith of Albany. He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Grimes, Sr. and his maternal grandfather, William Smith, Sr. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Sumter Humane Society, P. O.
