Dr. Robert Allen Norris, age 87, of 110 Woodcrest Court, Americus, died Monday, September 6, 2010 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. A native of Waycross, Dr. Norris was born December 16, 1922, the son of the late Robert P. and Nell Marie Norris. Dr. Norris served in the U. S. Navy and was a veteran of WWII. Mr. Norris had a Ph D in biology and was a Professor at Valdosta State University, Rutgers University and University of California at Berkeley. He was the curator of the Herbarium, which he donated to the college, at Georgia Southwestern State University. Funeral services will be private and held at a later date.
