Robert Paul Francis, 88, of Americus, died Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center. A native of Elwood, IN, he was born November 14, 1929 to the late Richard A. Francis and Elisabeth Clancey Francis. He enjoyed traveling to see his family in Indiana, camping, fishing, playing cards and listening to old music. He loved animals, especially his dog, Bentley. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Rev. Keith Parks will officiate the service. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m., an hour prior to the service, at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel. Survivors include his wife Kaye Francis of Americus; a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Patsy Francis of Americus; a daughter and son-in-law: Lisa and Richard Loper of Americus, two step-daughters and their husbands: Dana and Jerre Norris of Americus, and Stacie and Ralph Martin of Jefferson. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Robbie Francis, Chris Francis, Felicia Loper Palmer, Brandon Loper, Taylor Norris, Chase Norris, and Thomas Martin; and one great-granddaughter: Lillianna Francis. He was preceded in death by his first wife of forty-six years, Virginia Francis; and five brothers. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Alzheimer's Association, 225 Second St. E., Tifton, GA 31794 or to the Sumter Humane Society, 108 Industrial Blvd., Americus, Ga 31719.
