Richard Herman Bell, Sr., 85, of Americus, died Sunday, May 10, 2026 at his residence.

The family will receive friends from 10 AM until 11 AM, Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel. The graveside service honoring his life will be held at 11:30 AM, Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Earl Dunmon officiating.

A native of Ellaville, Mr. Bell was the son of the late Wallace Richard Bell and Lillian Smith Bell. He retired from Triple A Modular Builders where he was a material manager. Mr. Bell enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family. He began landscaping their yard out of love for his beloved wife, Jacqueline. Over time, working in their yard became his passion. Everyone commented on how beautiful their yard was. He and Jacqueline were married for 64 years before her death in 2024. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by their daughter, Christy Faye Bell and a sister, Joann Mayo.

He is survived by two sons: Ricky and his wife Michelle and Wally and his wife Sharon; seven grandchildren: Rick, Dustin, Billy (Ana), Alicia, Chelsea, Master Austin (Caitlin), and Colby Hudson; five great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
