Richard Max Avis, 69, of Americus, died Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at his home. He was born January 9, 1947 in Logan, WV to the late Floyd Thomas Avis and Doris Geneva Samper Avis. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. No services will be held. Survivors include his daughter, Michelle Avis of Americus; son, Nicholas Todd Avis of Palm Coast, FL; brother, Thomas Avis; and sister, Kay Spencer. Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel is in charge of these arrangements.
