Mrs. Rachel Bridges, age 87, formerly of Cobb, died on Monday, July 5, 2010 at Jonesboro Nursing Home and Rehab in Jonesboro, GA. A lifetime native of Sumter County, Mrs. Bridges was born January 24, 1923 the daughter of Tom and Julia DeVane. Mrs. Bridges was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church and also was a member of the Red Hat Club. She loved fishing, gardening and her church. Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 9, 2010 at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel with Rev. Lawton Sammons officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family receive friends Thursday, July 8, 2010 from 6 until 8 PM at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel. A number of nieces and nephews and a number of great-nieces and great-nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Bridges.
