Pearla Poole Chambliss, age 96, of 2001 S Lee St., died Saturday, December 14, 2013, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center. A native of Americus, she was born October 11, 1917, the daughter of the late Charles D. and Nettie Tarver Poole. Mrs. Chambliss was a homemaker, a loving wife and mother of four sons. She was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Calvary Episcopal Church with Father Rick Buechner officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to service Tuesday from 12:00 until 2:00 PM at Calvary Episcopal Church. Pallbearers include Ross Chambliss III, Doug Saylor, John Fred Chambliss, Jake Chambliss, Woods F. Chambliss, Doug Saylor, Jr., Charles Wade Saylor and Mike Hudson. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Calvary Episcopal Church, 408 S. Lee St., Americus, GA 31709. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Ross Merritt Chambliss, Jr. and Charlotte of Americus, John Paul Chambliss and Margaret of Milledgeville and William Floyd Chambliss and Sherry of Atlanta; seven grandchildren, Ross Chambliss, III, Cathy Saylor, John F. Chambliss, Miranda Hudson, Jennifer Chambliss, Jake Chambliss and Woods Chambliss; eight great grandchildren; and a niece, Karen Kiker Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ross Merritt Chambliss, Sr., former Police Chief of Americus; a son, Charles Wade Chambliss; and a sister, Nettie Poole Kiker.
