Oscar Wayne Shinholser, age 74, of 699 Sam Bradley Rd., died at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center Saturday, February 8, 2014. A native of Erwinville,Ga., he was born November 19, 1939 the son of the late Emmett Oscar and Laura Martha Shairah Shinholser. Mr. Shinholser was a retired truck driver for Cooper Lighting. He was a veteran who served in the Army. He loved hunting and fishing and his church. A memorial service will be held Monday, February 10, 2014, at 2:00 PM at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel with Rev. Lawrence Wiggins officiating. The family will receive friends at the family residence, 699 Sam Bradley Rd. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Phoebe Sumter Hospice P. O. Box 1434, Americus, Ga. 31709 or to Salem United Methodist Church, 903 Upper River Rd., Americus, Ga. 31709. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Betty Shinholser of Americus; two daughters, Penny Lynn (Cregg) Rocket of Ogelthorpe and Monique (Jimmy Frank) Daniels of Americus; a son, Roger Wayne Shinholser (Lara Geller) of Macon; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty (Raymond) West of Dunnellon, FL and Jean (Jim) Haverty of Brooksville, FL; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
