Obituary

Neon Earl Bass Jr. passed away Sunday March 10, 2024 surrounded by family in Fairhope, Alabama. Earl was a resident of Leslie, Georgia and Orange Beach, Alabama. Earl is predeceased by his parents, Neon Earl Bass Sr. and Jane Laramore Bass, as well as his brother Larry Wade Bass. Earl is survived by his wife Lana Crumpton Bass and two children Patrick Earl Bass (Lori) and Christina Bass Dismukes (Jim), his five grandchildren, Talley, Patrick, and Banks Bass, and Lana and Jim Dismukes, his sister Jane Marie Bass, and sister and brother-in-law Tami and Ricky Duke. Born on June 13, 1946, Earl grew up in Leslie, Georgia and attended Georgia Southwestern University. Earl was a farmer who always had a zest for the outdoors. He farmed everything that could grow in South Georgia, but his impact on the peanut industry was unprecedented for decades. His farming career started in 1970 and he retired from farming in 2001. During this time, he always gave back to his local Leslie community. Earl was an avid outdoorsman and spent much of his time hunting, fishing, and entertaining. The outdoors was his true passion that he passed down to his children and grandchildren. Earl attended Calvary Episcopal Church and was a member of the Leslie Methodist Church. He was an avid reader of The Bible. Earl leaves us with so many wonderful memories of time spent doing all of the things he loved. With gratitude, we remember his life and all that he accomplished.
