Myrtle Hinton Vaughn, age78, of 177 Ga HWY 27 of Americus, GA. Died at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center on Wednesday May 18, 2016. A native of Americus, she was born August 21, 1937, the daughter of the late Lewis Edward and Mary Lawhorn Chappell. Mrs. Vaughn was a member of Bethel Baptist Church but attended Life Point. Mrs. Vaughn coordinated the reunions for the Class of 1955. After her retirement from Bell South she worked 10 years at Council on Aging with Meals on Wheels. She was also coordinator for Bell South retirees. Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 21, 2016, at 2:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. William Hall officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, May 20, 2016 from 5-7 PM at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel, 142 Southland Rd. The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Ann Harris 1801 Rose Ave. Americus, GA 31709 or Phoebe Sumter Hospice P.O. Box 1434 Americus, GA 31709. Survivors include two daughters Kelly Vaughn Newcomb of Americus, and Randi Vaughn of Atlanta; a sister Betty Ellason of Americus; six grandchildren, Danielle Brooke Martin of Americus, Christina Eleanor Newcomb of Alabama, Ethan Altman of Valdosta; Chloe, Hunter and Lizzie Meola of Atlanta; three great grandchildren, Bently Martin of Americus, Lillian and Gus Harris of Ellaville.
