Mike Nola Thomas, age 72, of 2001 South Lee Street, Americus, died Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Phoebe Sumter Hospital in Americus. A native of Americus, he was born May 24, 1940 the son of the late Dewey and Sara George Thomas. Mr. Thomas was a retired laborer. He served in the United States Navy and after returning from service lived most of the rest of his life in Americus. He loved Americus High School football. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Rusty Mauldin officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at 10:00 AM at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Scott, Bobby Buchanan, Shaw Fletcher, Marshall Welch, Butch Killabrew, Lane Lacey and Bill Murray. Survivors include three sisters and brothers- in- law; Sandra and Marvee Willis of Americus, Denese Rooks of Canton and Jody and Harvey Simpson of Americus. He is also survived by several nieces and a nephew. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the League of the Good Samaritan at Magnolia Manor, 2001 S. Lee Street, Americus, GA 31709 and The Fellowship Sunday School at First Baptist Church of Americus at 221 S. Lee St., Americus, GA 31709
