Martha Wanza Watson Ellis, age 94, of Americus, died at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center Saturday, March 18, 2017. A native of Rome, she was born October 6, 1922, the daughter of the late Joseph and Alice Watson. She was a member of Drayton United Methodist Church and enjoyed cooking, being with her family and entertaining them. Graveside services will be held Monday, March 20, 2017, at 1:00 PM at the DeSoto Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Tom Teate officiating. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Sumter Humane Society, 108 Industrial Blvd., Americus, Ga. 31719. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Gary Gibbs of Gainesville; a son, Joe Ellis of Americus; five grandchildren, Chip Gibbs, Chris (Jenny) Gibbs, Robin (Greg) Bell, Martha Jo Patterson and Judy Wilkes (Roger); eight great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
