Martha E. " Cookie" Johnson, age 79, of 615 Highway 27 E., died at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center Friday, July 10, 2015. A native of Americus, she was born May 2, 1936, the daughter of the late Paul and Kate Player. Mrs. Johnson was a retired office clerk and of the Baptist faith. Graveside services will be held Monday, July 13, 2015, at 11:00 AM at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Edgar Player officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 12, 2015, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel and at other time the family residence. Survivors include her husband George T. "Duck" Johnson of Americus; a daughter, Teresa Johnson Crowe of Americus; two sisters, Ollie Toporcer of Youngstown, OH and Helen Sage of Washington State; a brother, Edgar Player of Americus; and three grandchildren, Anna Crowe, Meagan Crowe and Ashton Crowe.
