Marion "Puzz" Monroe James, age 88, of 319 Pecan Dr., died at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center Monday, March 16, 2015. A native of Dayton, TN., he was born April 28, 1926, the son of the late Mathew Oliver and Lola Lusk James. He served in the U. S. Army during WW II and was a retired superintendent from what was then called Americus Utility Commission and now is Americus Natural Gas. Mr. James was a member of Lee Street United Methodist Church, Civitan, American Legion, American Public Gas Association, Georgia Municipal Association and a charter member of the Burger King Breakfast Club. Services will be held Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at 2:00 PM at Lee Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Betty Lou Miller and Rev. Toby LeRoy officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00 PM. Honorary pallbearers include the Burger King Breakfast Club. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Lee Street United Methodist Church, 1102 S. Lee St., Americus, GA. 31709. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Loraine and Roger Thigpen of Petal, MS.; a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Debra James of Leslie; three grandchildren and their spouses, Christy and Toby LeRoy, James Thigpen, and Morgan and Megan Thigpen; and also four great grandchildren.
