Mrs. Maree Elaine Schlekewy, age 76, of Americus, passed away on Monday, October 4, 2021 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. A native of Pinehurst she was born on July 20, 1945 to the late Henry and Maree Robertson. She was Baptist by faith and served her Lord with every day that passed. She was a member of Central Baptist Church. She was a fierce prayer warrior. The love for her family was her rock. She would spend her time with her children and grandchildren, any chance she got. She retired from Glover Foods. Funeral services will be held at Central Baptist Church on Friday, October 8, 2021 at 12:30 PM with Bro. Hugh Deloach and Dr. Bryan Meyers officiating. The family will receive friends at Central Baptist Church from 12:00-12:30 on Friday, October 8, 2021. Interment will be at Andersonville National Cemetery at 2:00 PM. Pallbearers will be Ed Shattles, David Stitchum, Johnny Shiver, George Larson, Paul Mott, and Bo Sullivan. Survivors include two daughters and two sons-in-law, Robin & Greg Bell of Americus and Martha Jo and Brian Justice of Ellaville; four grandchildren, Kayla Powell, Kasey Powell, Kristy & Gavin Hicks, and Mitch Bell; also surviving are three great-grandchildren, Kason Hawkins, CJ Hicks, and Haven Hicks. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to be made to Central Baptist Church Building Fund, 190 Upper River Rd. Americus, Ga. 31709. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Larry Schlekewy and a brother Charles Robertson.
