Lucile Bessie Witt, age 100, of 2001 S. Lee St., died at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, Thursday, March 27, 2014. A native of Ariton, AL, she was born December 21, 1913, the daughter of the late Erasmus Lafayette and Maggie Florence Blanton Weed. Ms. Witt was a devoted member of First Baptist Church and loved raising orchids and gardening. Graveside services will be held Sunday, March 30, 2014, at 3:00 PM at Oak Grove Cemetery with Rev. Rusty Mauldin and Rev. Keith Parks officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church, 221 S Lee St., Americus, GA 31709 or to the charity of one's choice. Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joel B. Witt. Cemetery: Oak Grove Cemetery
