Mr. Louie Morris Roberts, Sr., age 77, of Cobb, passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2021. Born in Americus on May 10, 1944 to the late Urmond Franklin Roberts and Nell DeVane-Roberts. He was raised by the late Owen L. Linton and Nell DeVane Linton, Sr. Master Sergeant Roberts was a Vietnam Veteran and retired from the U.S. Air Force after serving 23 years. He was a member of Dorchester 369 Masonic Lodge, Patriot Guard Riders, Masonic Rites in Charleston, SC, and a founding member of the Cooper River Drag Racing Association where he raced his 57 Chevy. He was an avid drag racer, Harley rider, fisherman, and a devoted husband and father and grandfather. Funeral Services will be at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Steve Golden officiating. Visitation will be held an hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Tazwell Methodist Church cemetery. Survivors include wife of sixty years, Vivian Roberts of Cobb; two sons, Louie Morris Roberts Jr. and wife Tammy Roberts of Goose Creek, SC, and David Owen Roberts and his wife Ruthie Roberts of Greenwood, SC.; one brother, Urmond Franklin Roberts Jr. and wife Inez Roberts; sister Jean Linton Roberts and Husband Lanier of Vienna; and four grandchildren, Brandon Roberts and wife Lesley Roberts of Grapevine, TX., Sydney Roberts of Greenwood, SC., Taylor Roberts of Greenwood, SC., and Hannah Roberts, who is currently serving the Lord in Central Asia. The family suggests memorial contributions to be made to Bethel Baptist Church 846 Lane Store Rd. Americus, GA. 31709 or to Sumter Humane Society 108 Industrial Blvd. Americus, GA. 31709.
