Lonnie B. Belcher, age 54, of 132 Old Dawson Road, Americus died at Columbus Specialty Hospital on Thursday, August 23, 2012. A native of Americus, he was born on September 3, 1957, the son of James Watts Belcher and Bessie Kate Satterfield Davis. Mr. Belcher was a graduate of Plains High School and was employed by Reeves Construction Company until his accident in 1996. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Bethel Baptist Church. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, August 25 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel with Mr. Charles Reeves officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of Michael Belcher, 343 Middle River Road. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 846 Lane Store Road, Americus, GA 31709. Survivors include his mother and step father, Bessie K. and James B. Davis of Dawson; his father and step-mother, James W. and Bettye Belcher of Americus; a daughter, Chelsea Brooke Belcher of Americus; a step-daughter, Madison Ellanson of Americus; a step-son Chad Hodges of Americus; two sisters and brothers-in-law; Lynn and Michael Graham of Marietta and Jenifer and Douglas Payne of Woodstock and a brother, Marty Belcher of Leesburg. A number of nieces and nephews as well as many other family members and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Ronnie A. Belcher.
