Mrs. Gladys Laverne Thompson, age 83, died at Lake Haven Nursing Home in Valdosta, Saturday, January 8, 2011. A native of Americus, Mrs. Thompson was born January 27, 1928, the daughter of the late Ira Carl Hall, Sr. and Carrie Bradley Hall. She was retired from Americus Housing Authority as Administrative Assistant, was a member of First United Methodist Church in Valdosta and a former member of Lee Street United Methodist Church in Americus. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday January 12, 2011 in the chapel of Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel with Rev. William Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 11, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel and at other times the family residence of Rev. William and Jean Hall, 209 McLittle Bridge Rd., Americus. Memorial contributions may be made to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinsons Research, Church Street Station, P.O. Box780, New York, NY 10008-0780. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Ray Selph of Valdosta; two sons and daughters-in-law; Don and Nancy Thompson of Tehachapi, CA. and Keith and Michelle Thompson of Nashville, Ga.; a sister Doris Gilmore of Americus; three brothers and sisters-in-laws, Rev. William and Jean Hall of Americus, Robert Earl Hall of Americus, and Wayne and Donna Hall of Americus; a sister-in-law Lynn Hall of Vienna; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Kathleen Thompson of Americus; five grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by a brother I.C. Hall, Jr. and a sister-in-law Gail Hall. Memorials: Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinsons Research, Church Street Station, P.O.
