Master Kerry Austin Gary, age 3, of Byron, died Friday, June 11, 2010, at Houston Medical Center. A native of Americus, Austin was born September 26, 2006, the son of Mathew Tyler Gary and Shanna Thaxton Mayo. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at 10:00 AM at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Bryan Myers, Rev. Andy Hines and Rev. Tommy McConnell officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 15, 2010, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel and at other times at the home of Charles and Joyce Barry, 715 Barlow St., Americus and Tyler Garys home, 413 N. Bond St., Plains. Pall Bearers will be Shane Sutton, Jeremy Lofton, John Michael Jenson and Mike Barry. Honorary Pall Bearers will be the Sumter County Sheriffs Department. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Survivors include his mother and step-father, Shanna and Michael Mayo of Byron; his father, Tyler Gary of Plains; his twin brother Alex Gary of Byron and three other brothers, Shawn Cox, Cameron Mayo both of Byron and Ethan Gary of Plains; three sisters, Leigha Gary and Sarah Miranda of Byron and Sylvia Gary of Americus; maternal grandparents, Morgan and Pam Thaxton of Gadsden, AL. and Brenda Thaxton of Americus; paternal grandparents, Keith and Bonnie Gary of Cordele; maternal great grandparents, Lora Thaxton of Americus and Charles and Joyce Barry of Americus; paternal great grandparent, Roberta Tyler of Americus; step-paternal grandparents, Peggy and Billy Mayo of Byron and God parents, Paige and Shane Sutton of Andersonville. He was preceded in death by his maternal great grandfather, Harvey Thaxton and his paternal grandmother, Sylvia Gary.
