Bobbie Joyce Daniel McCrary, 90, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, October 20, 2024 in Lakeland, FL.  She was born in Webster County, GA on February 24, 1934 to parents Hoke S. Daniel and Ophie Brightwell Daniel.   Miss Joyce, as she was best known, was preceded in death by her late husband of over 50 years, Jack Rodgers McCrary in 2005.  She is survived by three children, Marsha M. Leap, (David, deceased) Lakeland, FL, Dolores M. Crook, (Ricky), Smithville, GA, and Stewart McCrary, Lawson, MO.  Joyce has five grandchildren, Ashleigh Crook, Austin Crook, Daniel McCrary, Matthew McCrary, and Jonathon McCrary and five great-grandchildren, Evan McCrary, Carolyn McCrary, Ethan McCrary, Mason McCrary, and Ryleigh Crook. She is also preceded in death by her three brothers, Walter Daniels, Joseph T. Daniels, and William Earl Daniels.

Miss Joyce was a genuine Southern lady and wonderful role model for family and friends.  She worked in her early years after graduation from Americus High School, at Bank of Commerce where she adored her mentor and boss, Charlie Crisp.  After she married Jack, she only wanted to be the best wife, mother, and homemaker she could be.  She was active in civic clubs and served as president of the local Civinettes.  She loved her garden club and won several awards for her creative flower designs.

It was important for Joyce to have an immaculate home that was decorated for every special occasion.  Family and friends knew they were welcome to drop by anytime and enjoy coffee and pear cake around the dining room table.  The friends of her children were always welcome to stay for dinner and did often.

She was a lifelong member of the First Methodist Church and continued to give offerings monthly after she moved to Lakeland, Florida, three and a half years ago to live with her daughter, Marsha.

Services to honor Joyce's life with be at 1:00 PM, Saturday, October 26, at the Chapel at First Methodist Church in Americus, GA. A reception will follow the service.  Interment will be for immediate family at Sunset Memorial Gardens.  Serving as pall bearers will be grandsons, Daniel McCrary and Austin Crook, and family friends, Jimbo Griffith, Chris Hooks, Bill Hanson, Sammie Mable, Sr., Cliff Pilcher, III, and Tim Oliver.  Honorary pall bearers will great-grandson, Evan McCrary, and family friend, Hank Wall.
