Johnny H. Bird, age 93, of Americus, died Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Magnolia Manor. He was born May 30, 1923 in El Dorado, AR, to the late Harry H. Bird and Annie Mason Bird. He was a member of Porterfield Methodist Church in Albany, a U.S. Navy World War II veteran, and worked as a Plant Superintendent for Union Oil Company for thirty-five years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Kelly Bird; and a daughter, Linda Wright. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Oak Gove Cemetery in Americus. Rev. Keith Parks will officiate the service. Survivors include his son, Michael Bird and his wife SuAnn C. Bird of Americus; a daughter, Ellen Bird of Clanton, AL; and a sister, Margarete Ann Bigelow of Cheyenne, WY. Also surviving are six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel is in charge of these arrangements.
