John Paul Williamson, age 88, of 210 Shirley Rd., died in Albany at Willson Hospice House, Wednesday, October 3, 2012. A native of Plains, he was born January 28, 1924, the son of the late Walter J. and Rosabel Mangham Williamson. Mr. Williamson served in the US Army Air Corp during World War II. He graduated from the Southern College of Pharmacy and received his pharmacy license on June 30, 1947. He began his career in pharmacy at Red's Pharmacy in Americus where many of his loyal customers knew him as "Dr. Paul". He was also an avid golfer and a member of First Methodist Church of Americus. A graveside service will be held Saturday, October 6, 2012, at 3:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. William E. Collins officiating. The family will receive friends at the family residence, 210 Shirley Rd. Honorary Pall Bearers are Billy Clark, Billy Crook, Larry McCrea, James Jackson and Sammie Mable. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Dorothy (Dottie) Williamson of Americus; a son and daughter-in-law, John Paul and Tatiana Williamson, Jr.; two sisters, Emmalene West and Tallulah Kenyon; four brothers, Walter Williamson, Charles Williamson, David Williamson and Jerome (Jerry) Williamson; and a grandchild, Irina Williamson.
