John Bruce Wilder, age 73, of Americus, died Sunday, July 19, 2020. A native of Columbus, Mr. Wilder was born July 2, 1947, to the late John and Ann Wilder. John was a loving family man. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved cars. He worked with Georgia Power for 36 years before retiring. Graveside services will be at Oak Grove on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at 10:00 AM with Rev. William Hall officiating. Survivors include his wife of 47 years Sherryl Jones Wilder; his children, John(Carrie) Wilder and Jami(Stewart) Hall; four grandchildren, James McAllister, Emily Wilder, Jackson Wilder, and Kyler Hoffman; a brother Wayne(Betty) Wilder; three sisters, Rena(Jarrett) Spence, Janice(Joe) D'Andrea, Cheryl(Fred) Okamoto; four sister-in-laws, Dena Wilder, Valerie(Mike) Bean, Cereto Bean, Freda Jo(Mark) Vann; he is also survived by ten nieces, fourteen nephews, five great-nephews, and thirteen great nieces and his mother-in-law Mildred Jones. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital, 5901 Peahtree Dunwoody Rd Atlanta, GA 30328 or to Wounded Warrior Project, 1349 W. Peachtree St. NE Suite 1800 Atlanta, Ga 30309.
