John David Purvis, Sr., 64, of Dublin, died September 13, 2016 at Fairview Park Hospital. He was born December 18, 1951 in Havre de Grace, Maryland to Daisy Dickey Purvis and the late Milan Purvis. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 16, 2016 in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Americus. A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday September 17, 2016 at Bloodworth Cemetery in Charing. Rev. Rusty Mauldin will officiate the service. Mr. Purvis is survived by his wife, Melanie Purvis of Dublin; three sons: John David (Jamie) Purvis, Jr. of Dublin, W. Thomas Purvis of Boston, MA, and B. Daniel Purvis of Statesboro; his mother, Daisy Purvis of Dublin; and a brother, Charles Purvis of Panacea, FL. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews: Scott Purvis of Tallahassee, FL, Ginger Scott of Alpharetta, Beth Purvis of Marietta, and Debbie Purvis Hawkins of Tallahassee, FL.
